Furniture should not fail. If a HomeCrest piece develops a fault in how it was made, we will put it right.
5 years
Against manufacturing & structural defects
Every HomeCrest piece is covered for five years from the date of delivery against defects in manufacturing and structural integrity. The warranty is offered to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
What is covered
Structural defects
Failure in the frame or load-bearing structure under normal domestic use — a joint that opens, a leg or rail that fails, a frame that loses its integrity.
Manufacturing defects
Faults introduced when the piece was made — poor jointing, a component wrongly fitted, a defect in how the finish was applied.
Hardware faults
Failure of supplied hardware — hinges, drawer glides, handles or fittings — under normal use, where the failure is a fault rather than wear.
What is not covered
Understanding the exclusions matters as much as knowing the cover. A warranty on a natural material cannot be a warranty against the material behaving naturally. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and workmanship; it does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, accidental damage, improper care, moisture or water damage, or unauthorised modification or repair.
Natural characteristics of wood
Variation in grain, colour, figure and knots. Seasonal movement of timber with humidity and temperature, including small changes in joints and hairline movement in a finish. Gradual, even darkening or lightening of a finish with light exposure. These are properties of solid wood, and they are not defects.
Normal wear and tear
Surface scratches, scuffs, dents, marks and general wear that accumulate through everyday use. Softening or flattening of upholstery fill and foam with use. Loosening of fittings over time, which is normally corrected by tightening them.
Moisture and water damage
Swelling, warping, splitting, staining, lifting of a finish or discolouration caused by spills left standing, standing water, damp placement, steam, flooding or storage in an unsuitable environment. Wood must be kept dry, and spills wiped promptly.
Heat and sunlight
Marking or damage from hot dishes, hot appliances or a heat source placed directly against the piece. Uneven fading, bleaching or drying caused by prolonged direct sunlight, or by placement next to a radiator or heater.
Insect and termite damage
Damage caused by termites, borers or other insect infestation after delivery is not covered. Infestation is an environmental condition of the room the furniture stands in, not a fault in how the piece was made.
Misuse, overloading and accidents
Damage from exceeding a reasonable load, standing or sitting on a surface not designed for it, dragging a piece across a floor rather than lifting it, impact, accident, pets, or use in a commercial or outdoor setting where the piece was sold for indoor domestic use.
Unauthorised repair or modification
Any repair, refinishing, re-upholstery, cutting, drilling or structural alteration carried out without our written agreement voids the warranty on the affected part. Please contact us before anyone works on the piece.
Assembly and installation
Damage or failure caused by self-assembly not carried out to the supplied instructions, by incorrect installation, or by wall fixings not appropriate for your wall type. Where a piece requires wall anchoring for stability, damage or injury arising from it not being anchored is not covered.
Upholstery, cane, rattan and fabric
Fabric wear, pilling, stretching, creasing, shrinkage or colour transfer from clothing or other textiles. Natural lightening of cane and rattan with sun exposure, and drying or brittleness in very low humidity. Staining. Damage from unsuitable cleaning agents.
Transit damage
Damage that occurred in transit is not a warranty matter — it is handled faster and more simply under Returns & Refunds. Please report it at delivery with photographs.
Making a claim
- Contact us with your order number and a description of the fault.
- Send photographs — a clear close-up of the fault and a wide shot of the whole piece. Most claims are assessed from photographs alone.
- Proof of purchase. Your HomeCrest order number or invoice. Please keep it — the warranty runs from the delivery date on that record.
- Assessment. We review the evidence and, where necessary, arrange an inspection of the piece.
- Remedy. Where a claim is accepted we will repair the piece, supply and fit a replacement part, or replace the item. Which of these applies depends on the fault; repair in your home is often the fastest outcome.
Do not have the piece repaired by anyone else before speaking to us. It makes the fault much harder to establish and voids cover on the affected part.
Where a piece or part is replaced under warranty, the replacement carries the remainder of the original five-year term. It does not start a new five-year warranty.
Where an inspection or collection is arranged and the fault is then found not to be covered, any inspection or transport cost is assessed case by case and discussed with you before it is charged.
Getting the full five years out of it
Most warranty claims we would expect to see are preventable. Keeping a piece out of direct sun and away from a heat source, wiping spills as they happen, lifting rather than dragging, and tightening fittings once a year will do more for a piece of furniture than any policy document. Our Furniture Care Guide sets it out properly.
Your statutory rights
This warranty is offered in addition to your rights under applicable Indian consumer law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. It does not replace or limit them.
