The questions we are asked most often, answered plainly. Where a policy sets a number — a return window, a refund timeline, a cancellation window — the full detail is on the policy page it links to.
Ordering
How do I place an order?
Choose your product and, where a piece is offered in more than one finish or size, select the variant you want. Add it to the cart and complete checkout. You will receive an order confirmation by email.
Do I need an account?
No. You can check out as a guest. An account simply keeps your order history and addresses in one place for next time.
How do I know a measurement is right?
Published measurements come from the maker, and we state on the product page where a figure has not been confirmed rather than fill the gap with an estimate. If a measurement decides your purchase — an alcove, a lift, a stairwell — ask us before ordering and allow a small margin for handmade tolerance.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Tell us as soon as possible with your order number. A change of address, variant or delivery date can often be made before an order is processed. Once a piece has been dispatched it cannot be changed. See our Cancellation Policy.
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed by Cashfree. Cards, UPI, net banking, wallets and EMI are available through it. The methods offered to you are the ones shown at checkout when you order. See Payment & EMI.
Do you offer cash on delivery?
No. Cash on delivery is not offered. All orders are paid for at checkout.
Do you offer EMI?
Yes. EMI is available through Cashfree at checkout. The plans, tenures, issuing banks and any interest or charge that applies are those presented by Cashfree and your bank on the checkout page. See Payment & EMI.
Are prices inclusive of tax?
Yes. All prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include applicable taxes. Shipping is free on all orders, so nothing is added at checkout. A GST invoice is provided on all orders.
Delivery
How long will my order take?
Within 14 working days is our estimated delivery, with dispatch 10–12 days from order confirmation. Working days exclude Sundays and public holidays. Customised pieces run to a separate timeline agreed with you in writing.
Where do you deliver?
Across India only. We do not currently ship outside India. A small number of pin codes are not serviceable; serviceability is checked against your pin code when you place your order.
What does delivery cost?
Nothing — shipping is free on all orders. There is no delivery charge and no minimum order value to qualify.
Will it fit through my door?
Measure the whole route, not just the room: doorways, stairwells, the turn on a landing, and lift dimensions including the door width. Send us your measurements before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether the piece will make it in. Tell us in advance about no lift, narrow stairs, restricted vehicle access or building time windows.
What should I do on delivery day?
Unwrap and inspect the piece while the delivery team is still there. Check surfaces, edges, legs and any glass, and confirm it is the right product and finish. Photograph anything that looks wrong — including the packaging — note it on the delivery document before signing, and contact us the same day.
What if a delivery attempt fails?
We will contact you to arrange another attempt, and the re-attempt is made at no extra cost to you. See Shipping & Delivery.
Assembly
Does my furniture arrive assembled?
It depends on the piece. Some arrive fully assembled, some are delivered knocked down. Where the maker has told us, the product page says which.
Do you install it for me?
No. HomeCrest does not offer an assembly or installation service. Where a piece is delivered knocked down, assembly is your responsibility and the supplied instructions should be followed.
Do tall pieces need fixing to the wall?
Where a piece is supplied with wall-anchoring hardware, use it, and use a fixing suited to your wall type. Tall storage that is not anchored can tip, particularly if drawers are opened together or a child climbs it. Damage or injury from an unanchored piece is not covered by the warranty.
Returns, refunds and cancellation
What if my furniture arrives damaged?
We will put it right. Contact us with your order number and clear photographs of the damage, a wide shot of the whole piece, and the packaging if you still have it. Keep the packaging until the case is closed. Transit damage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery. See Returns & Refunds.
Can I return something I have changed my mind about?
No — change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Returns are available within 7 days of delivery for eligible claims: transit damage, a manufacturing defect, a wrong item or missing parts. Those are always covered, and you do not pay to return them.
How long does a refund take?
Refunds go back to the original payment method, and approved refunds are released within 5–7 working days. Once released, the time it takes to appear also depends on your bank.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes — free of charge within 12 hours of placing the order. Beyond that, tell us as soon as you can and we will stop it if we still can. After dispatch it cannot be cancelled and must be handled as a return. Customised pieces cannot be cancelled once production has started. See Cancellation Policy.
Warranty
What warranty do I get?
Five years from delivery against manufacturing and structural defects, for the original purchaser. The full cover and exclusions are on our Warranty page.
Is normal wear covered?
No. Scratches, scuffs, dents and general wear from everyday use are not defects. Neither is natural variation or seasonal movement in wood, moisture or heat damage, insect infestation after delivery, or damage from misuse or unauthorised repair.
How do I claim?
Contact us with your order number, a description of the fault and photographs — a close-up and a wide shot. Most claims are assessed from photographs. Do not have the piece repaired by anyone else first; it voids cover on the affected part.
If a piece is replaced, does the warranty restart?
No. A replacement carries the remainder of the original five-year term rather than a fresh five years.
Solid wood and natural variation
What woods do you use?
Sheesham, mango, acacia and teak. Some pieces also use engineered materials such as plywood, MDF or veneer as supporting or secondary components. We name the species on the product page only when the maker states it — we never identify a species from a photograph, and where it has not been confirmed we say so.
Why does my piece not match the photograph?
Because it is wood. Grain, colour, figure and knots vary board to board and tree to tree, so no two pieces of the same design are identical and none matches its photograph exactly. Screens vary too — a finish can read warmer or cooler on your device. This is a characteristic of the material, not a fault.
Will it change over time?
Yes, gently. Wood moves with humidity and temperature, and most finishes deepen slightly with light. Even, gradual change is normal and is part of how solid wood ages. Uneven change usually means one part is getting far more sun or heat than the rest — see the Care Guide.
Customisation
Can I have something made to my own requirements?
Yes. Share your brief on our Design Your Own Furniture page — the piece, approximate dimensions, material, finish, budget and what you have in mind. Our team reviews it and comes back to you. Submitting a brief starts a conversation; feasibility, pricing and timelines are confirmed before anything is made.
How is a customised order paid for?
In two parts: 50% in advance once you have approved the specification and before production begins, and the remaining 50% before dispatch. See Customisation.
Can I return a customised piece?
Not for change of mind — it is built to your specification and cannot be resold. It is fully covered if it arrives damaged, defective, or not built to the specification you approved.
Care and support
How do I look after solid wood furniture?
Dust with a soft dry cloth, wipe spills immediately, use mats under anything hot or wet, keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heaters, and lift rather than drag. The full guidance, including cane, rattan and upholstery, is in our Furniture Care Guide.
How do I reach you?
Email support@homecrest.in or call 9024216017. Support is open 7 days a week, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, and we aim to respond within 4 hours during those hours. You can also use the form on our Contact page. If an issue has not been resolved through normal support, you can escalate it through Grievance Redressal.
Not answered here?
Send us the question. If it is about whether a piece fits, what it is made of, or how long it will take, we would rather answer before you order than after.
