| Construction | Teak, described by the maker as seasoned old teak. A plain rectangular top with a thick edge, carried on four legs turned into a ball-and-spindle profile. Stated by the maker as 183 x 91 x 74 cm, or about 72 x 36 x 29 inches - lower than the 76 cm most dining tables use. The maker describes the technique as handcrafted. See source notes on the unresolved finish question. |
Use mats under anything hot or wet and wipe spills as they happen. Dust the top with a soft, dry cloth along the grain, and work into the turned sections of the legs, where dust settles in the hollows between the balls. Keep the table out of a strong window. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners - particularly on a painted leg, where they will lift the colour.
